Walsenburg Art Planter Box and Walking Tour Ribbon Cutting with Redline Arts in Society Support

mcberger4

A ribbon cutting ceremony with Museum of Friends (MoF), the Redline Art in Society’s grant manager Lares Feliciano, the City of Walsenburg and Walsenburg Downtown Revitalization to celebrate the new Art Planter Boxes and Walking Tour!

Starting at 4:30p at Museum of Friends/MoF and followed by a toast at the Crafty Canary!

The Art Planter Boxes and Walking Tour is a Museum of Friends project funded by the RedLine Art in Society grant. The Art Planter Box project evolved to include a Walking Tour along Main Street – MoF's QR code tour will incorporate the indigenous history of the region with revisionist inclusive stories. MoF collaborated with the City of Walsenburg, Diane Lohman Design, Redhyl Welding, and Walsenburg Downtown Revitalization.

Each planter features an image defining Walsenburg’s cultural roots of Native American, Hispano and European settlers, area geography and what makes Walsenburg and Huerfano County interesting. In keeping with MoF’s role as the only museum of Counter-culture Art in the US, their art planter boxes tell the story of alternate artists communities and the use of alternate solar energy as we move towards green.

These stories propel MoF’s role as visionary change leaders in Huerfano County that began in 2005.
